Volunteers Needed

Our league is run by volunteers and sponsors. We want and need your help.

Here is the list of needed volunteer positions. We especially need help at the lower divisions (Tee Ball and Coach Pitch). We will provide training, support, and resources to help you be successful and have a wonderful season.

  • Managers / Coaches / On-Field Assistants

These are the true backbone of our parent army. Whether you are a seasoned pro, or just a baseball novice there is always a need for fun, energetic coaches who love spending time on the field with our kids.

  • Team Parent

Many times referred to as the "team mom", every team needs someone to help organize all of the non-baseball related activities such as snacks and end of season parties. If you are interested in taking on this role, talk to your child's coach at the first practice.

  • Scorekeeper

Carson City Little League (CCLL) uses an app called GameChanger to score all the games and keep statistics for the coaches and players. This position is needed for every team in AA, AAA, Majors, and Junior/Senior divisions. Scorekeepers need to own a phone or tablet that runs the Android (Google) or iOS (Apple) operating system. GameChanger is a free-to-use app. CCLL will provide training on how to use the app for scorekeeping before the season starts.

Training resources for scorekeepers are available here!

Paid Positions

Our league also offers the following paid positions.

  • Snack Bar
  • Umpire

If you are interested in volunteering, sponsoring, umpiring, or working the snack bar, you can enter your interest on the registration form or email us at [email protected].

Required Trainings

Ensuring the safety of our players is the most important thing we do as an organization.

Managers, Coaches, On-Field Assistants, and Scorekeepers

Below is the list of trainings required for all managers, coaches, and on-field assistants who interact directly with the kids. These trainings must be renewed every year.

  1. Background Check

Background checks must be completed annually on all new and returning individuals before the individual starts his/her duties for the season. The safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League® program is paramount. All volunteers and positions with access to the players are required to complete a background check (coaches and helpers at practices, umpires, scorekeepers, board members, etc.)

*NEW* Starting in the Spring 2026 season, background checks are initiated from our website. Follow the link above to get to the list of volunteer positions. This link will require you log into the SportsConnect platform (if you don't already have an account, you will need to register first). Select the role(s) you wish to volunteer for and select your profile. Follow the screen prompts to enter the required information.

  2. Little League® Abuse Awareness Training

Managers, coaches, and on-field assistants must be able to identify signs of abuse and understand how to report incidents. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with Little League® Training. Next, enroll for and complete the Abuse Awareness Training course.

  3. HEADS UP Concussion Training

Managers, coaches, and on-field assistants must be able to recognize signs of concussion you might observe during a practice or game. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with the CDC. Next, take the training for the HEADS UP to Youth Sports Coaches: Online Concussion Training course.

Your HEADS UP training needs to be renewed every calendar year. To retake this training, log into CDC Train website and click on the Pre-Assessment button to start the course.

  4. Little League Diamond Leadership Training

All volunteers--managers, coaches, on-field assistants, scorekeepers, umpires, and snack bar--are required to take this training. The Diamond Leader training program is a free educational resource that provides volunteers with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with Little League® Training. Next, enroll for and complete The Diamond Leader course.

Volunteers are only required to complete the Diamond Leader program once. Your certificate from a prior season is still valid.

Completing Your Trainings

When you complete your required trainings, email the certificates of completion to our Safety Officer, KT Harvey. Include your name and the division you are coaching in the subject line.

Player Safety

Ensuring the safety of our players is the most important thing we do as an organization. Safety is an important part of every season, and we believe it is a shared responsibility that helps everyone enjoy the game with confidence and peace of mind.

As part of Little League SAFE, Carson City Little League (CCLL) has confirmed the steps we take to protect children, prepare volunteers, and maintain safe facilities and playing conditions. From equipment checks and emergency planning to strong child protection practices and volunteer training, our goal is to create a positive, fun, and secure experience for every participant.

The CCLL 2026 SAFE Summary consolidates our league's policies into an easy-to-use resource for our volunteers and families.
