Volunteers Needed

Our league is run by volunteers and sponsors. We want and need your help.

Here is the list of needed volunteer positions. We especially need help at the lower divisions (Tee Ball and Coach Pitch). We will provide training, support, and resources to help you be successful and have a wonderful season.

  • Managers / Coaches / On-Field Assistants

These are the true backbone of our parent army. Whether you are a seasoned pro, or just a baseball novice there is always a need for fun, energetic coaches who love spending time on the field with our kids.

  • Team Parent

Many times referred to as the "team mom", every team needs someone to help organize all of the non-baseball related activities such as snacks and end of season parties. If you are interested in taking on this role, talk to your child's coach at the first practice.

  • Scorekeeper

Carson City Little League (CCLL) uses an app called GameChanger to score all the games and keep statistics for the coaches and players. This position is needed for every team in AA, AAA, Majors, and Junior/Senior divisions. Scorekeepers need to own a phone or tablet that runs the Android (Google) or iOS (Apple) operating system. GameChanger is a free-to-use app. CCLL will provide training on how to use the app for scorekeeping before the season starts.

Training resources for scorekeepers are available here!

What gear does my child need?

You will need to provide a glove, bat, baseball pants, belt, and socks for your player. Your child's coach will give instructions for the color/style of baseball pants, belt, and socks needed to complete the uniform.

Bats

Please review Little League's Bat Information for the current rules and approved bat standards by division.

USA Baseball Bat Standard (USABat Standard) bats must be used in the Little League Major Baseball Division and below. For more information on the USABat standard and a complete list of approved bats, visit usabat.com.

BBCOR standard bats may be used for the Junior/Senior division.

Batting Helmets

Batting helmets are required for practice and play. CCLL will provide batting helmets and catching equipment to each team. Players may elect to use their own batting helmets or catching gear. If your player chooses to wear his or her own batting helmet, be sure it is approved by the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE).

Athletic Cups, Supporters, and Compression Shorts

Boys should wear an athletic supporter or compression shorts under their sweatpants and baseball pants. If your son is a catcher, it is mandatory he wear a protection cup.

Other Equipment

There are also many optional pieces of safety equipment, from mouth guards to face protectors to arm sleeves, that parents and players can choose to wear, but are not mandatory.
